Workshop comitted to reconciliation and reuse. We analyse the properties and culinary possibilities of the unjustly called “weeds”, which are nothing more than wild species made available to anyone who dares to change the supermarket for the mountains. Traditionally associated with rural gastronomy, they can become a real delicacy.

J. Esteban Hernández Bermejo

J. Esteban Hernández Bermejo / Professor of the UCO. Director of the Vegetation Germplasm Bank of Andalusia.

From 1980 (year of its creation) until 2008 he was Director of the Royal Botanic Gardens of Cordoba, becoming from this year to be Scientific Director of the Botanical Garden of Castilla La Mancha-Albacete and member of the team that drafted the project. He has been, among other international positions, General Secretary of the International Association of Botanic Gardens (IABG), Founding President of the AIMJB (Asociación IberoMacaronésica de Jardines Botánicos), Coordinator of the The European Botanic Gardens Consortium and Advisor to FAO and UNEP in different projects. He is also Advisor to the MARM in matters related to the CBD (Convention on Biological Diversity) and Coordinator in technical assistance for this Ministry of the REDBAG (The Spanish Network of Genebanks for Wild Plants).

 

Alfonso JIménez Ramírez

Alfonso Jiménez Ramírez / Biologist. Technician at the Royal Botanical Garden of Cordoba.

Collaborator and associate professor of the Department of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences and Resources of the UCO. Member of the Research Group “Plant species of potential economic interest in agriculture”. He has participated in obtaining new varieties of cultivated plants. Publications on agricultural and natural heritage in Al-andalus and Conservation in Botanical Gardens.
